On June 23, 1972 Title IX was enacted. The debate whether women are strong and tough or weak and delicate. Title IX being enacted however did not entirely end the debate. The years and events leading up to this law such as the Civil Rights movement helped for Title IX to be passed. The laws against discrimination helped to provoke  the discrimination against women in higher education and especially sports to be banned. President Nixon signed this law after Patsy T. Mink and Edith Green had proposed and defended this law.
