Thesis:
On
June 23, 1972 Title IX was enacted. The debate whether women are strong
and tough or weak and delicate. Title IX being enacted however did not
entirely end the debate. The years and events leading up to this law
such as the Civil Rights movement helped for Title IX to be passed. The
laws against discrimination helped to provoke the discrimination
against women in higher education and especially sports to be banned.
President Nixon signed this law after Patsy T. Mink and Edith Green had
proposed and defended this law.
