Why?
Title
IX was presented by Patsy T. Mink and Edith Green a few years after the
Civil Rights Movement. The movement paved the way for Title IX. The
14th amendment gave rights to African Americans who were freed. Women of
this time felt that if African Americans were being freed and given
rights then they should also receive rights.
